A diverse professional presence

CEO Jesse Reponen’s workdays are filled with duties related to administration, finances, real estate management and facilities rental. His screen swarms with data from systems related to budgeting, financial management, invoicing and facilities maintenance.

“The content of my workdays varies a lot. Sometimes I actually sit by the computer all day, working on various reports and calculations. We have a strong culture of self-management that promotes independent work and trust so that every now and then you can take a break from work and go for a brisk walk, for example.”

Companies and higher education institutions

Hanna’s work as a service designer consists of a very diverse range of tasks. The focus is on building and developing cooperation – between universities and companies. Among other things.

“Depending on the situation, service design is about finding a place for a game club, face-to-face meetings, planning events and changing room arrangements. Lahti Science Park is home to science education, universities and businesses alike. To me, it’s like a small village and the Turtle Hall is an event marketplace. In my own work it is important to create an environment that is inspiring and safe for everyone.

Not just digitally

Hannu Lievonen, technical property manager, usually starts his day digitally. Tenants and various stakeholder representatives contact and communicate with him by email and sometimes by phone. The maintenance manuals are also in digital format, and building engineering can be managed remotely. However, there are things that cannot be handled in the digital world: smooth cooperation with customers, contractors and various other players requires physical presence.

“Normal day-to-day interaction is also needed,” says Hannu. All the good times, relations and successes help you cope when things don’t go quite as planned. The situation is what it is, even when things are difficult.”
